🇺🇸 The U.S. military has acknowledged for the first time that it has weapons deployed in space.

Air Force Secretary Troy Meink said the U.S. now possesses “on-orbit space control weapons” designed to protect American and allied forces from hostile actions.

He declined to identify the weapon or reveal its capabilities, saying secrecy was important to maintaining its deterrent effect.

Meink also said the U.S. now has “flight-ready hardware” for space-based interceptors being developed as part of the Golden Dome missile-defense system.
