When people don’t make an effort to keep us in their lives, it can activate our abandonment wounding— we feel this intense desire to be near them because their absence means we must be: unloveable.
When we're raised in dysfunctional homes, chaos is a normal state. Our body becomes dependent on the consistent release of adrenaline and cortisol.
Without the stimulation of chaos we feel: bored, irritable, or numb. Here why...
A THREAD🧵:
December 21st. Winter solstice. The darkest day of the year.
Every day of the fall has been getting darker towards today.
But tomorrow?
It starts getting lighter. In tiny tiny increments. But light is coming. It doesn't get any darker than today.
Light is coming.
Today I will watch my mother cook our thanksgiving meal while sober for the first time in my 25 years of life. Sobriety and God’s relentless pursuit to redeem his children, even at the age of 57 is what I’m thankful for this year.
and maybe now, a decade later, i'm ready to contribute a tiny bit to his legacy also, with a plea:
*ask your sad friend about the sad thing that you never talked about*
You made today better and you will make tomorrow better too.
Stay.
All of us alive at dawn.
If you need help, please please ask for help. Your life matters. Your future is priceless.
Stay.
Please.
@victoriaquirk11 Just gotta say, I truly enjoyed this play by play. Keep ‘em coming girl. I want while shooting a wedding to be the story of how ya met your guy. 😏 haha.
can “getting breakfast” be a hobby? bc i’ve decided one of my favorite activities is waking up in the morning to a new day, going to eat some yummy food, & slowly sipping on a cup of coffee while I enjoy the sweet conversation and company of good friends
This week I’ve been processing my grief and fear through words. I haven’t written since I was a child and it feels good to lay out the emotions on paper again.
Addiction is a deceptive, throat gripping, fear giving, Liar. Addiction has uprooted, entangled, and traumatized my family. How do you watch someone you love sit in the darkness while your hand is outstretched offering them help that they will not accept? Lord Jesus come.
My mother has agreed to go to a hospital to seek medical attention for alcohol addiction. Something she has never done. She said she’s not ready to die even though her body and spirit are close to the door of death. Will you please pray for her? Pray for a miracle.
