I mean with the BBC telling everyone to prepare for war and news about Russia formalizing plans to attack NATO while China is apparently ready to attack Taiwan.

It feels like we're on the precipice.

But does the US do?

Well, lets' go with the funniest take.

I think they sit this one out for two years like they did the first two world wars. And, as the world burns in a catastrophic way, they come into the war to rescue the West for the third time.

Why would they rescue Europe right away? For what? Canada (like we always have done) will gladly send their sons/daughters to die in a war overseas for European oligarchs, but the US has a different history.

I think the next 10 years are incredibly grim, but the funniest take would be a late US tush push into the end zone for freedom and democrazy!

This is an affront to any serious notion of Canadian sovereignty.

I am immensely disappointed that your answer to the challenges facing Canada, and to the pressure we face along our southern border, appears to be deeper political and economic alignment with another bloc.

Canada should be strengthening its own sovereignty, competitiveness, and independence, not looking to trade dependence on one set of powerful institutions and markets for dependence on another.

It was a line meant ONLY to mobilize the boomers into a nationalist, protectionist fervour. One that left them blind to the reality that Carney is just a banker aligned with the values of the WEF and has no allegiance to our uniqueness (which is inherently and fundamentally North American).

I really despise what Canada has become.

And I hate the fact that there will be little push back.

Canada... truly a symbolic blight on the map.

We are not and never will be European, associate member or otherwise.
