Doing a PhD is - at heart - one long discussion with your mentor. The discussion changes over time - with unexpected turns and ups & downs - but through it all is a pair of people discussing a topic endlessly to make sense of it.
PhD students: choose someone you like to talk to!
@lem0nb0iii @ravenscimaven My roommate and I started putting the produce in the door of the fridge so I stop forgetting it exists. It has worked surprisingly well!
I know this is a minority position but I love the goofy intro sentences students write. Since the dawn of time, humans have wondered about the mind. fuckin tell me about it man
@courtneyconquer Not a military brat, but moved around a lot for my moms job. I went to 23ish schools from 5th grade to high school graduation. I feel like it has impacted my relationships with people a lot also. I’m simultaneously so clingy but also so distant.
Congratulations to David Snoberger III👏who earned his MA this fall. His thesis title is "The Role of Intersectionality on Suicidal Ideation in Younger Adulthood" w/advisor Dr. Danielle Kuhl. David would like to continue on for his PhD and hopefully become a professor. @dckuhl
We’ve all been so communally gaslit by 2020 that even the news of “the mad emperor got sick with the plague” is being met with mutterings of “MAYBE THIS IS ALL PART OF HIS PLAN???”
Unlike most PhDs, I grew up socioeconomically disadvantaged. Neither of my parents went to college #firstgen. When I was born, the WIC program paid for my formula and food for my mom. When I ate lunch in high school, I paid less than everyone else, while working a part time 1/10
I’m sure many people have said this, but I haven’t seen anything about it. Why isn’t there a set of TV channels available nationwide by September that has school curriculum taught all day with simple scheduling? It would be more accessible than everyone needing a computer + wifi.
