@brown83589 @shegone03 I’ve never hit high level pitching and I don’t pretend to have but I obsessively read The Art of Hitting .300 and The Science of Hitting as a kid and my unsolicited advice for young players would be to read those and get good off the tee but that’s not much of a business model!

@camcavers @Noahpinion I’m interested in @Noahpinion ‘s sources for this. Certainly don’t think it was shunned. Like Japan has done for centuries, it was absorbed and blended with other schools of thought. It’s how Japan rolls.

@Noahpinion Even though it exists. This is also why we think tattooing existed in Japan before the arrival of Chinese influence and then after that arrival why tattoos became a punitive way to mark criminals in Japan.

@Noahpinion It’s certainly a Confucian-influenced society; this is why tattoos have historically been looked down upon because of the Confucian notion that your body is a gift from your parents. People in Japan still echo this but most don’t draw a direct connection with Confucian thought

Nolan isn’t alone. Tarantino’s autograph is a mess; Michael Mann’s is “MM”, but some directors really cared about their handwriting (Friedkin, for example).

This really doesn’t matter! We watch their films, not their letter writing. Still, seems like something is lost…
