A little announcement to make!
I’ve seized on some of this extra stay-at-home time and started up a podcast (gasp!).
“Court Sense” will be weekly, with guests, and mostly about basketball (UH, NBA).
You can find it now on @Spotify and @Stitcher.

BREAKING: The NBA has ruled on the Los Angeles Clippers in for salary cap circumvention investigations on Kawhi Leonard after yearlong probe -- stripping the franchise of 5 first-round picks, issuing a $30 million fine to owner Steve Ballmer and suspensions for Ballmer, Lawrence Frank and Gillian Zucker, sources tell ESPN.
Kawhi Leonard will have to pay $700,000 in restitution for improper benefits by the Clippers for his uncle and former business rep, Dennis Robertson. No contract void or suspension for Leonard. And Robertson -- who was fired by Leonard in June -- is being banned by the NBA from all business dealings.
Sources: San Jose State has named Hawai‘i transfer Luke Weaver the starting quarterback, and he’ll debut for the Spartans in Week 0 at No. 14 USC. Weaver went 2-0 as a starter for Hawaii last year and threw the game winning touchdown in relief in the Hawai‘i Bowl.
My final story for Spectrum News on Andy Irons’ legacy with the modern generation of Hawaii surfers.
Seth Moniz, who spoke for the piece, just won the Tahiti Pro for his first WSL CT win. It was the last event won by Irons before his death.

My first assignment as a full-time sports reporter was Day 1 of Hawaii football fall camp in 2007.
UH’s first fall 2026 practice today marked another personal transition. My 5-year team at Spectrum News was sadly recently eliminated.
Heartfelt aloha and mahalo for reading.
#HawaiiMBB’s Isaac “Big Fish” Johnson puts up 20 points in 20 min off bench in his NBA Summer League debut with the @sixers, a win over @DetroitPistons.
Forever ‘Ohana 🌈🏐

The Sony Open will return as a PGA Tour Champions event at Waialae Country Club in January 2027.
Would give Hawaii a two-event Champions swing with the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai.
