We're bringing local models and sandboxed tools to Windows and GitHub Copilot

Coming soon, GitHub Copilot will determine when a task is best handled by on-device intelligence and when it should leverage cloud-scale models.

You can now deploy apps on the Copilot Managed Runtime from Lovable, too. As a longtime Lovable user who works in a highly controlled IT environment, this makes it much easier to safely connect to M365 services and share just like a document.

It's been great to partner with the @Lovable crew on this one as we build out the Managed Runtime.

The model is not enough - it doesn't come with an understanding of how your business or team works. That context is spread across the work happening every day: files, conversations, emails, databases, and apps. Figuring out what matters for a particular task, and what the model actually needs, is a hard & unsolved problem.

That's why Work IQ + Copilot is special... so I white boarded a bit how it works under the hood.

On paper, I’m in my 50’s & it’s really confusing…
In my head, I’m 35.
At a concert, I’m 25
After 10pm, I’m 72.
Getting up off the floor, I’m 93.
When someone makes me mad, I’m 2
BUT-
When an 80’s song comes on,
I’m 17, drunk in a field, & my mom thinks I’m at a sleepover

Through the VOICE trial, Terry is using his Neuralink implant to help fine-tune a brain-to-voice interface for himself and others who can’t speak. He trained the algorithm first by miming speech as best he could, then by simply thinking the words and hearing them come out in his own natural voice.

Satya Nadella: How Microsoft is applying the concept of "Lean for knowledge work" internally with AI.

The internal ROI on AI investment and leveraging the cost reduction effect of AI.

Borrowing from Toyota's manufacturing efficiency principles and applying them to white-collar operations powered by AI.

e.g. Microsoft spends approximately $4 billion per year on customer support operations. By deploying AI agents for front-end deflection (resolving issues before they reach human agents) and real-time reasoning assistance for support staff, they are dramatically reducing costs in areas like Xbox and Azure support.

In December 2001, just three months after the September 11 attacks, Elton John appeared on “Live by Request,” an A&E special where viewers called in live to request songs. Among the callers, a woman shared that her husband had been one of the first responders to die at the World Trade Center, and that “Rocket Man” was his favorite song.

Elton, visibly moved by the request, sat down at the piano and began playing that 1972 classic that everyone had heard a thousand times before. But that night, in that context, the lyrics about loneliness and distance took on a completely different weight.

Sweating and with his voice breaking on every note, he managed to completely silence the audience for the four minutes the song lasted.

Now you can build apps in Cowork and Copilot Studio.

Just another vibecoding play? Not quite. Many agents can write a decent front end today. The important part is what happens before and after.

Now anyone can build in the flow of work, in the context of Work IQ. "Let's create a plan for this next product launch" can naturally evolve to "let's build an app based on the discussion in yesterday's meeting and the email and Teams threads about the project."

And, critically, the apps you create are hosted, secured, and fully managed by Microsoft, connecting natively to the places you already keep business data. So no more "check out my cool app at localhost:3000" or "great, now I need to spin up a bunch of services and jump through a bunch of approval hoops to deploy this thing."

Just click 'share' and send a link, we'll take it from there.

🕊 The missing Twin Towers returned to New York for a few minutes

A light show was held on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

The drones first rose into the night sky in a spiral, then formed the outlines of the destroyed World Trade Center towers.

The installation used 2,977 drones — one for each person killed in the attacks.
