My rant for the day-
Fact:
Until Ronald Reagan threw out the fairness doctrine and all of the media ownership restrictions (followed by similar actions from every succeeding president)people trusted their newspapers, radio and the TV news.
Cause and effect.
We are long overdue for a reintroduction of the guidlines that gave us trust in the 4th estate.
Calling for that type of regulation actually supports free speech, destroys media monopolies and provides us with a fertile ground of vetted facts which leads to cogent and meaningful discussion on issues of public debate.
Allowing Social media platforms to publish disinformation, often from anonymous handles, promotes dishonesty and maximizes profits for the platforms at the expense of the audience they exploit and poisons the well of information from which we all drink.
Going forward, if you want reliable information then you have to reintroduce the regulations that stress facts over profits. These regulations must include social media.
This is NOT censorship. It is a promotion of facts over dangerous propaganda and we all used to realize this.
There is a lot of nuance in this issue.
You can’t shout fire in a crowded theater when there is no fire.
Libel and slander are not protected speech.
Satire is protected.
Courts of law decide on disagreements.
Anti-slapp legislation protects the small and independent publishers against corporate bullies.
But please. Tweet out simple, misleading accusations. It is so helpful in solving difficult and important problems by further dividing the electorate at our expense while the rich keep getting richer.
Who agree that people who sexually assault women and rape them are horrible people?
I wonder if Katie Britt thinks such people should be elected President.
Reminder: Donald Trump was found liable of sexual assault, and is accused by over a dozen women of rape or sexual assault.
Here's part of Katie Britt's Republican Rebuttal to Biden's SOTU:
"She told me not just that she was raped every day, but how many times a day she was raped. The cartels put her on a mattress in a shoebox of a room, and they sent men through that door, over and over again, for hours and hours on end."
"We wouldn’t be OK with this happening in a third-world country. This is the United States of America, and it’s past time we start acting like it."
People who are serious about sexual assault don't elect sexual predators to government on purpose in my opinion.
Hey Andrew, did you know the current CEO of Chubb, which footed the $90M bill, sits on the board of the Center for the National Interest, which you and your team investigated as part of Russia's attempts to compromise the 2016 Trump Campaign? Seems important.
This is HUGE! 🔥
This union worker for Trump was just shown that Trump is for right to work, in his own words, and admitted he would vote for Biden after learning that!
Make sure everyone sees this!

UPDATE -- Katie Britt's spokesperson ADMITS her sex trafficking story was about Karla Jacinto Romero
Romero was forced to work in brothels in Mexico, in Guadalajara and Mexico City, 600-700 miles from the US/Mexico border -- from 2004-08
NOTHING to do with Biden or the border
The sight of a former President verbally fellating a dictator should fill every American with rage and disgust.
Viktor Orbán is not a "great leader, fantastic leader."
Another good example of how a partisan half truth takes over a factual narrative and becomes an outright lie. This is happening all the time. Checking sources must become our new norm.
WOW.
So, it turns out that story told by Senator Katie Britt, on national TV, as part of the Republican party rebuttal to President Biden, was bullshit.
It was an awful story about sex trafficking, which DID happen, but not the way Britt told it.
She made it seem like it happened on the border, in the United States and while Biden was President, but it happened between 2004 and 2008, when George W. Bush was President.
And it happened IN MEXICO.
It is DESPICABLE for a sitting U.S. Senator to weaponize the pain experienced by a real survivor of sex trafficking, just to try to create a false narrative.
It's even WORSE that Britt was part of the team negotiating to pass the border security bill before she decided to shit on the very thing that would help prevent awful things like that from happening.
SHAME ON YOU, @SenKatieBritt.
