Translating 🇮🇹: Michele Mari’s VERDIGRIS and YOU, BLEEDING CHILDHOOD, Lalla Romano's A SILENCE SHARED and IN FARTHEST SEAS, Walter Siti's PARADISE OVERLOAD
A sea of Lallas 🌊🌊
Working on this was not like translating a book, but like translating a whole human heart.
Out Aug 26 in the US & Sept 11 in the UK. Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to read it for a review! Fans include Jhumpa Lahiri, Ayşegül Savaş, Catherine Lacey💙
Michele Mari now shortlisted for Italy's most important prize, the Strega, after receiving by far the most votes out of any of the longlisted authors. Let's gooo! 🏅 @Einaudieditore
Gothic slug summer returns, this time at the Italian Cultural Institute of New York.

The only thing these greatest books lists are good for is reminding me to say that when they did one for the 21st century in Italy, Walter Siti's Paradise Overload was rightly ranked no. 1. Forthcoming from Archipelago Books, excerpted here in @GrantaMag 😇https://t.co/KhIfudv67i
Translator wins top literary award for "daring" and "pitch-perfect" translation that leaves entire book in source language. "Maintains all the original flavor" praised the judges.
I’ll be reading at this @stjordinyc party at 3pm tomorrow in the West Village. They’re celebrating soccer a bit this year so naturally I’ll be reading from Michele Mari’s O. Henry Prize-winning story “The Soccer Balls of Mr. Kurz” from You, Bleeding Childhood. Come hang out! ⚽️
Once Ben Lerner opens an autofictional novel by declaring how much he hates his poor parents, and then tries to kill one of them to get some extra cash to pay for a bodybuilding coke-addict gigolo, then we can talk. https://t.co/KhIfudv67i
