Today in 1985, The Beach Boys released their 25th studio album, The Beach Boys. Brian and Mike traded lead vocals on the album’s first single “Getcha Back” and Brian wrote or co-wrote three others, as well as the bonus track “Male Ego.” What’s your favorite track?
“Early on, I learned that when I tuned the world out, I was able to tune in to a mysterious, God-given music. It was my gift, and it allowed me to interpret and understand emotions I couldn’t articulate.”
Today in 1962, The Beach Boys released “Surfing’ Safari.” The song peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, and appeared on the album of the same name. The song was featured in the soundtrack of the 1973 film, American Graffiti.

Today in 1977, the Beach Boys released “Honkin’ Down the Highway,” taken from their The Beach Boys Love You album. Brian said the song was influenced by country music “to a certain degree. I remember when I wrote that I was thinking “truckin’ down the highway”

Congratulations to @BillyIdol for receiving the American Music Awards (AMA) Lifetime Achievement Award last evening in Las Vegas! Billy kicked off a live set starting with “Eyes Without a Face.” This was Brian’s favorite song of Billy’s.
