Today | The Director General, Mr Dangor and some #DIRCO Officials received South African nationals who have been evaluated from Gaza. The evacuees, comprising six males and 13 females arrived at OR Tambo International Airport this afternoon.

As South Africa's #BRICS Chairship comes to an end this month, they handed over the BRICS Chairship to the Russian Federation. Ambassador Sooklal handed the gavel, designed in Russian colours by KZN Province, to the Russian Federation Sherpa.

Correction. 1. They requested/applied to join BRICS, they were not invited.
2. There's no formal notification by Argentina to withdraw from BRICS.
3. There's a BRICS Sherpa meeting currently taking place in Durban 🇿🇦. Argentina is attending.
4. The new President of Argentina was very critical of President Lula and Brazil during his campaign. He has now invited President Lula to his inauguration on 10 December & now stated that he wants good relations with Brazil. He has also stated the same about China, a country he criticised during his campaign.

Amb Sooklal reflected on some of the successes of SA's #BRICS Chairship during his interview with @UbuntuRadioZA. He said South Africa delivered to the satisfaction of all BRICS countries, all due to the Cooperative & collaborative spirit of the #GlobalSouth.
