This is Samantha updating. When I shared photos of the fire, some people twisted it, saying I was using tragedy for clout. That couldn’t be further from the truth. I’m a photographer — documenting events is what I do. Those images weren’t about attention, they were about showing what really happened. About 20 minutes before the flames broke out, I had driven by and warned about what I saw. My concern wasn’t acted on, and later the fire spread. Since then, speaking up and sharing the truth has made my family enemy #1 here. I’ve been called a liar, glared at, and harassed every time I step outside. The very next night, when we went out to protect a friend’s unit after people were shining a laser at her security camera, we were surrounded and pushed back into our own home. That’s the kind of mob behavior we’ve been facing. This isn’t about playing the victim. It’s about the reality of what my family lives through every day. My kids don’t sleep through the night anymore — every smell, every noise has them afraid the flames will return. It’s been 7 days since our GoFundMe started. We’re grateful for the $400 raised so far, but truthfully—it hasn’t been easy. We’ve faced more backlash from our community, and yesterday was one of the hardest days yet.

On our way home from the farmers market, Samantha noticed a fire pit too close to a trailer. Out of concern for safety, she reported it. Not long after, that same trailer was engulfed in flames—two homes were lost, and another badly damaged.

We did the right thing, but now the community is against us more than ever. Their stories don’t match the truth, and we’ve never felt more unsafe living here.

Through it all, we’re still working full-time and pushing forward, but we can’t do this alone. We absolutely need help to make this move happen—to get our family to a safe and stable place where we can rebuild, work, and keep walking the path God has laid before us.
