There are now so many young people on social media who are well-informed and politically astute. It honestly gives me hope for the future, despite moronic old bastards of my age voting for Reform, the Tories, and Starmer's Labour...
Literally crying hearing how French women applaud Gisele Pelicot every day as she walks out of court. #r4today
Everywhere around the world women watch & applaud her bravery too. She stood up for all of us.
Because the shame has to switch sides.
I actually can’t describe how much of a RELIEF it is that a journalist FINALLY FUCKING SAID THIS.
Australian offshoring didn’t “work” it caused massive scale abuse.
I hate being so pathetically grateful but no other journalist seems to give a damn about that small detail.
Syrians have the right to celebrate the fall of the House of Assad without being lectured by non-Syrians about the reality of their future.
Maybe some of you need a reminder, but Assad wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill dictator. Not only did he run a police state of a frightening degree, but he also burned down his country to stay in power, destroying entire cities and killing hundreds of thousands of Syrians to keep his regime in place.
Let people who have had family members murdered, tortured, and imprisoned by the state have a moment of relief and celebration.
It doesn’t mean they’re naive about Syria’s future.
Thank you to everyone who complained to the BBC about their framing of the Neo-Nazi attack - they’ve switched up their headline!
(although it’s still factually inaccurate it’s at least not offensive)
On Saturday, Tommy Robinson & his mates will march in London, just as they did before the racist riots began this summer.
An anti-racist counter protest is happening & I will be speaking. The bloc for Safe Routes & migrant welcome gathers at 11:30 - pls share!
Love wins️💪
Same story, same endless impunity: ISrael again attacks ravage and kills in Lebanon - 42 years after the invasion in 1982, with siege and senseless bombing of Beirut- and the horrible massacres in Sabra and Chatilla. I was there. Now I’m here in Nabatieh and ask: why hasn’t Israel been stopped? Dr. Mads
When I was growing up in the 1960’s and 70’s a statement like this was inconceivable, and a vast majority of Israelis would have celebrated it. And now, here it is (and has been for years). Are there risks? Of course. But that’s what leaders are for.
After repeatedly interrupting Carla Denyer, Zia Yusuf tells a lie, Fiona Bruce corrects him, his expression at the end: he's literally lost for words #BBCQT
Reform party's Zia Yusuf, "Asylum seekers are coming from France, last I checked France was a safe country"
Carla Denyer, "It's a human right to seek asylum in the country of your choice.. It's a legacy of colonialism that there are people across the world who have links to the UK and so they have a right to claim asylum here"
ZY, "Because of colonialism Britain should now have open borders"
CD, "The UK takes a small number of asylum seekers compared to many other countries"
ZY, "We're a smaller country by capita, we take a lot moe than France"
CD, "The vast majority of refugees are displaced within their own country or their neighbouring countries.. I'm saying the UK should take its responsibility to support people feeing war and oppression seriously"
"We should allow safe and legal routes.. To apply for asylum from overseas.. That's how to tackle the small boats.. Let's not force asylum seekers into the hands of traffickers"
Fiona Bruce, "France takes more asylum seekers per capita than we do"
