For #FlyFriday here is a fluffy bumblebee
WOOOAHH of course it isn't - it's much better than a bumble, for it is a Botfly!
Cuterebra fassleri (=Andinocuterebra) is one of the many species of rodent botflies.

A caterpillar type of thing. It’s made with a nod towards fly-tying and I love the way if something’s tiny then the pile on velvet looks tall. Textiles are wonderful for making the furriness of these creatures. #collectopen23@CraftsCouncilUK
Thank you @urbanbirder and @LinneanSociety for a wonderful talk. Great to hear how you began. Loved your comparisons with Spain and Scotland, and looking at places through bird habitat points of view.
I can’t wait to notice more birds in South East London with your enthusiasm.
COLLECT OPEN 23. I’m delighted to announce that I will be one of the Collect Open artists at the International Art Fair, Collect London 2023. I’m working on a new installation called Garden of Making.

Silk egg speckles. I love the way the grain of the weave spreads the pattern close up. They are really small so even fine fabric looks like a big texture.
My mum’s address book. It looks more like the layers of an oyster shell with all the different contours and layers. The culprit was my sister’s Rabbit, who was always jumping onto the table and nibbling it. Happy days!

A fascinating and entertaining lecture developing themes from his book, from @ProfKneebone: Becoming an Expert - why it matters to us all, at the V&A Research Institute, (VARI).

@NigelDunnett thanks for sharing, and I loved what you said about being a facilitator for plants to do their thing. Such a good thought to replace what we might think of as neglected or untidy!
Noticing and respecting plant communities, engaging people with plants in urban spaces, fascinating ideas. An inspiring conversation with @moore_d@diamondhill2012 and @NigelDunnett at the @GardenMuseumLDN
I look forward to reading Darryl’s book Gardening in a Changing World
Shades of whelk. There’s a particular colour range shells have that looks like it’s in what they’re made of, separate from their outer layers that give some shells colour ways. I’ve seen the same colour range in cockles.
