Voting is our privilege but, as citizens, it is also our responsibility. And not just for top offices. Our society is built from the community level up. So, learn about candidates running for local offices and vote the down ballot, too. Duty calls!
@McFaul@peterbakernyt@whca The consensus of posts here seem to be shame on the journalists that they did not all get up and walk out the moment Trump stood up. It would've been the big message of the night instead of that 2028 hat.
@BelindaWebste13@maddenifico Too many Americans have overlooked his criminality, lack of morality l, and lack of patriotism, and voted for him anyway. Shame on them. It is too bad. We can't have a have vote of confidence election right now so we could turn him out now! Not the JD Vance would be any better.
@maddenifico The United States will never recover from the damage that this buffoon and his Republican henchman have created. There must be consequences for aiding him in committing treason.
@aishamusic@maddenifico Would not surprise anyone if this were true. Hopefully there are still some guard rails around that will still hold to avoid this. But, he will certainly give it his best try.
@maddenifico The media held a dinner for the person who literally wants State controlled media, and to imprison them for reporting on him, it makes absolutely no fucking sense whatsoever.
When Trump started speaking every one of them should have stood up & turned their backs & walked out
The grotesque irony of staging a White House Correspondents' Dinner in the presence of a rambling, authoritarian figure who is actively working to dismantle the First Amendment protections of the very free press he is ostensibly there to honor is almost too much to bear.
What should have been an evening celebrating journalistic independence instead became a platform for a petty, mean-spirited performance that exposed the speaker's smallness of character.
Rather than rising to the occasion, he spent his time sneering at "fake news," recycling tired grievances, and clumsily attempting to publicly humiliate CNN's Kaitlan Collins โ revealing not strength or wit, but the brittle insecurity of a man who confuses personal score-settling with leadership.
The speech was not merely tone-deaf; it was a dismal, unfunny, and intellectually bankrupt spectacle that diminished the event and the office it pretends to respect.
And then came the final, chilling flourish: the deliberate donning of a bright red "Trump 2028" hat. This was no joke, no lighthearted gag. It was a brazen, foreboding signal โ an open declaration that the assault on democratic norms is far from over, and that the next coup is already being telegraphed in plain sight.
@usgovdotgov@GBC_Press He is not joking, and he will try every trick he can to try and stay in office. Hopefully our Constitution, the courts, Congress, voters, common sense and Patriots will ensure that he can't do that.
@Matt_Winters_79@GBC_Press I am not discounting your thoughts on Congress, but Trump has grifted and theft ed from this country more money in two years than all the rest of them combined for 20 years. Congressional members are not violating our constitution on term limits, but Trump certainly would be.
@Damaan4u33 There have been more food recalls in a short period of time since RFK became head of our food safety agencies. He needs to resign. His leadership is dangerous and shameful..
BREAKING: A federal judge says it makes zero sense to prosecute anyone for taking pieces of the Reflecting Pool's peeled off paint until Donald Trump is prosecuted for driving 10 SUVs down the entire length of the pool before the sealant was fully cured.
@newsense@MilesTaylorUSA I could never understand the line that came after that statement. It was something like. "that's one more than we got." Anybody enlighten me?
@DemGovs I never knew that Democrats supported a poll tax. Has it occurred to you that that's exactly what you are supporting when you send out surveys asking us to give our opinion on issues but then we can't submit it unless we donate? A poll tax!
