3/3 While undergoing the bend & hardware tests, ladders must return to their original shape, within a specific tolerance, after the load is removed. These tests can exhibit upwards of 1000lbs of force on some parts of the of ladders.
1/3 Shout out to Jamie & Sara at Clerisy Safety who were out today completing ladder testing on our fire service ladders. The National Fire Protection Association sets out standards that a fire service ladder must meet or exceed when tested.
2/3 These tests are completed to ensure the safety of our firefighters when operating on a fire ground or training ground.
Testing involves a complete and detailed visual inspection of all parts of each individual ladder along with a bend test and hardware test.

3/3 Historically we used to have to carry foam for each type of fire on our apperatus but we now only carry one type, which can be used for both Class A & Class B fires
Note: Any foam solution used during this training was actually a solution made from dawn dish soap.
1/3 Last night during our training night our members went over foam types, equipment, application methods & set up.
Firefighting foam, depending on the type of fire, type of foam and percentage used, allows firefighters the ability to either break the water tension which allows
2/3 the cooling effect of the agent to penetrate into deep seated Class A Fires (Ordinary solid combustible) or in the case of Class B fires (combustible liquids) allows us to roll on, lob on or indirectly apply a layer of foam to essentially seperate the fuel from the flame.

Thank you for your continued support!
3/3 for their latest awareness campaign, they've provided the fire service w/decals to be placed on apparatus so we always know help is just a phone call away. We are proud to display these & show support for a incredible team who thankfully, are always just a phone call away
1/3 You may not have heard of them, but in the fire service, this team is well known province wide. @BridgetownFire along with many, many other departments in Nova Scotia continue to support the work the Nova Scotia Fire Service Critical Incident Stress Management Team does.
2/3 They're there for us 24/7, & like many other depts, they have been there for us during the tough times. They offer support to deps & FF's when dealing with critical incidents & offer information sessions on critical incident stress for both FF's & families from time to time.
