The end of Sir Andrew Davis’s Last Night of the Proms conductor speech from 1992, which he memorably sang to the music of Gilbert & Sullivan.

Appearing in 132 Proms, conducting 13 First Nights and 12 Last Nights, Sir Andrew Davis will be dearly remembered by the BBC Proms.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of conductor Sir Andrew Davis.

During his illustrious and varied career he conducted at the Hall 140 times between 1971 and 2023 and will be greatly missed by all. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
