Dr Eileen Carey is a lecturer in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Education and Health Sciences at the University of Limerick.

Eileen’s research interests focus on developing quality practices to implement evidence-based approaches and initiatives facilitating health and wellbeing of adults with intellectual disabilities.

It is paramount for positive ageing that older people and nurses can understand each other and work together. I think this research, exploring whether discussion cafés help intergenerational learning is important and I am very much looking forward to working on this project.

Hello, my name is Dympna Tuohy and I am the lead for this research project. I am a registered general nurse and a lecturer in nursing at the University of Limerick.

I have taught and been involved in nurse education for many years and I am particularly interested in older person nursing. I have been involved in several projects researching different aspects of ageing, all aiming to understanding the goals, wishes and needs of older people.
