I once worked with someone who in my opinion is a very smart guy. Sadly, his supervisor made it his life’s goal not to see him progress in his career.

This dude was constantly labeled an under performer and was once placed on a performance improvement plan. He gathered courage and left the company.

It wasn’t shocking (for me) that within a few months of joining his new employers, he got promoted to department head.

Sometimes, especially in work circles, the problem is not you, but your supervisor.
