Oom is right but there is a nuance here.

Jake’s issue is one of sustainability - you can preside over a toxic environment only for so long.

Ackermann’s issue is one of competency - he doesn’t have the technical ability to win when it matters.

You can make the argument that it’s easier to upskill a coaching environment than it is to improve culture - so yes, you can say that Ackermann has an ‘easier route’.

But that’s also precisely the reason he deserves less of the benefit of the doubt! From the second he was appointed we knew precisely his strengths and weaknesses.

We all shouted and begged that very astute and detailed assistant coaches were appointed to pick up for his lack of technical skill.

When we had a horror first half of the season we pleaded that we bolster the coaching team - particularly defence. There were rumours we were getting in a mentor for Tiedt. All came to nothing.

The problem - and the reason that Bulls fans have every right to feel frustrated - is that there has been a complete stubbornness from management to do anything, let alone acknowledge the issues. With Jake you were stuck - with Ackermann you have scope to actually make these changes.

But instead we have to listen to the same tired nonsense about ‘execution’ being the problem, when it’s quite clear the issues run far deeper than that. Instead of actual rugby solutions we get prayer meetings and vibes.

And I tell you what. Let’s see how long the great vibes in camp last if results don’t start to improve. These are professional competitors who want to win. They’ll continue to head for the exit door if they aren’t achieving that at the Bulls.
