The disappointment is real, but the deeper problem is structural.
Agriculture does face genuine labor shortages, and a properly designed temporary worker program is not inherently “anti-American.” Expanding H-2A to year-round needs (dairy, livestock, etc.) could reduce illegal hiring if it stays strictly temporary, requires return, and doesn’t undercut American wages.
But the provision that lets current unauthorized farmworkers convert to H-2A status without leaving—while shielding the employers who hired them—is the poison pill. That’s not modernization. It’s a targeted amnesty that rewards past violations and signals that illegal presence + agricultural work eventually gets rewarded. Voters did not demand that.
Strip the grandfathering clause, enforce first, then expand clean legal channels. Anything less just perpetuates the same cycle.

Meanwhile, the same progressive political world that backs Mamdani has long treated voter ID as racist, exclusionary, or an unacceptable “barrier.”
💥Protect the discount meat with ID. Protect the ballot? Not so much.

In a press conference announcing city-owned grocery stores, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYCEDC officials were asked how they’d stop people from abusing the 30% discounts on a core basket of essentials (all produce, meat, seafood, plus staples like milk, bread, cheese, etc.) by bulk-buying and reselling.
Mamdani said the RFP makes clear the program is “for New Yorkers to be able to put food on the table, not a program for people to be able to make a quick buck through reselling.”
He then handed it to Jeanny Pak (interim NYCEDC president), who added:

"We are looking to make sure that we target New Yorkers, whether it be at sort of a library card-esque [system], and also we manage who's buying and that it's focused on everyday New Yorkers...
We're gonna make sure that we have all the things in place to make sure that that doesn't happen."

So: some form of residency verification / access card (library-card style) to shop the subsidized goods and prevent outsiders or resellers from cleaning out the shelves. The city is putting $70 million into five of these stores (one per borough; first expected late 2027).

Imams stood in front of a school board and argued that Islam belongs in American classrooms.
A veteran answered them with the one fact that still matters most: on September 11, 2001, nineteen men who openly declared they were acting in the name of Islam murdered nearly 3,000 people on American soil. That is not ancient history. It is living memory for every family who lost someone that day and for every service member who spent the next two decades fighting the ideology that produced it.
Public schools are not Sunday schools and they are not madrasas. They exist to teach children how to think, not what to believe. Comparative religion as history is one thing. Presenting any religion as a belief system that should be normalized inside a government classroom is something else entirely. The same First Amendment that prevents the state from establishing Christianity also prevents it from establishing Islam.
Parents have every right to demand that line be held. Veterans who buried friends after 9/11 have every right to say it out loud. And school boards that forget the difference between education and advocacy should be reminded — clearly and repeatedly — until they remember.
This isn’t about hating people. It’s about refusing to whitewash the record or hand the next generation a sanitized version of the ideology that declared war on us.

The little girl shows the move perfectly. Duck under the swing, let it pass behind you, pop back up like it’s nothing. Clean. Confident. Zero hesitation.
Then the adult tries the exact same thing on the bigger swing.
And the swing has other plans.
That solid thud against the head is pure playground physics meeting adult overconfidence. Kids move lighter, time it better, and don’t second-guess the motion. Grown-ups bring more mass, more height, and just enough “I got this” energy to make the same move turn into comedy.
