The Society was saddened to learn of the passing, earlier this month, of Alan Draper of the Hollyford flock and formerly the Highfields flock.
A dedicated Texel breeder and enthusiast, Alan spent more than 40 years associated with the breed.

This International Women’s Day the Society is paying tribute to the legions of women who have contributed to the success of British Texels.

The Society was saddened to learn of the passing of former Society chairman Peter Dixon-Smith, Lyons.
A renowned breeder, particularly of the Dutch-type of Texel, Peter was chairman from 1989 to 1991 and was also an accomplished dairy farmer, breeding pedigree Holsteins.
Society members are encouraged to sign up to be part of a research project looking at livestock breeding strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Lower temperatures and resulting reduced midge activity have resulted in some changes to Bluetongue Virus restrictions in the Restricted Zone.
In the meantime, APHA is once again offering free Schmallenberg Virus testing.
