Bristol Transformed is back for its seventh year!

Bristol’s leading festival of radical politics, arts and culture will return on Easter weekend (4-5 April) at the Trinity Centre. There’ll be workshops, panels and activities covering a whole range of left politics. Come along to learn about practice, theory, and how we can all get involved to transform ourselves, Bristol, and the world!

- 100 years on from the 1926 General Strike in the UK - how did it get organised, who took part and what can we learn
- Organising for Palestine - discussing revolutionary praxis with the Bristol Apartheid Free Zone
Should we all join the Greens? Or should we make Your Party Our party? Untangling the puzzle of the left parties in Britain
- Comrade Delta - A conversation with David Renton about his new book and what the left can learn about the scandals and failures of the SWP, the largest far left party in Britain
How to radicalise your union? Ideas and approaches to building power and class solidarity in local branches
- Socialist Housing - how can we fight for more and better social housing and take a step towards destroying landlordism in the UK’s third most expensive city to rent in.

As always, we will have you covered for free childcare all weekend, courtesy of our Childcare Caucus - included in the cost of a ticket!

We are also excited to announce a brand new addition to this year's festival - a young people's programme aimed at 11-16 year olds. This is as well as our crèche for lefty little ones. Run by experienced youth workers and BT organisers, expect sessions including:

- March on the Boss: a tactic for activists of all ages
- Protest songs workshop from Glasgow Anarchist Choir
- An introduction to colonialism and capitalism through an interactive game

All under 16s get in free to the festival. If you are part of, or know a young people's organisation that might want to attend the day, please get in touch by emailing: [email protected]

Early bird tickets are now on sale - available for a limited time only, so get them while you can!

While people struggle to pay their bills and cope with the impacts of ecological breakdown, Labour is funneling money into Donald Trump’s imperialist war machine. What is to be done?

Next Tuesday, join Climate Vanguard and Energy Embargo for Palestine for a night of discussion, where we will collectively analyse the current political moment and map out how our movements can fight back.

Tickets available on Headfirst, 🔗in bio. Get yours now!

More about the organisations running the session:

Climate Vanguard is a youth-led organisation empowering youth movements through radical political education. The group was born out of the youth climate movement, but their work has since broadened to support all youth organisers who are building power for eco-socialist transformation.

Energy Embargo for Palestine are an anti-imperialist organisation fighting for an energy embergo from below. The group launched to popularise the call for an energy embargo in Britain and to campaign against British Petroleum's complicity with the ongoing genocide of Palestinians.

Together they have written a brief arguing that the British left should unite in resisting rearmament. We are lucky to have them come to Bristol to share their research, bringing us together to think about out how the movements we organise with can work together to fight back.

The full brief is available on both organisation's websites, check it out before the session!

🚩 Next Tuesday! 🚩

While the Green Party is very different to Labour, the opposition to a rising left party will be just as intense. Corbynism showed that it's not enough to just present a popular platform - we must be ready to deal with hostility from all sides, and to build a party that's ready for that struggle.

Book a ticket and we'll send you a PDF copy of the book to read & discuss! 🎟️ https://t.co/JPWRO714MM

Tonight! What changes can we expect from a Burnham government? Can he save the Labour Party? And should we even want it to be saved?

🥀 How should socialists approach our collapsing government? 🥀
🎟️ Tickets: https://t.co/Mx06BljWHY

Starmer's government is collapsing for a dozen reasons: crackdowns on political freedom, abandoned pledges, support for genocide, links to Epstein... In this chaos, many are celebrating Andy Burnham's bid to become Prime Minister, hoping his "soft left" approach can improve our lives and restore trust in Labour.

Join us this week to discuss what a Burnham government would mean for our lives and for the future of the UK. With a guest speaker from local socialist group Bristol Marxist Organisers, we'll ask: What changes can we expect from Prime Minister Andy Burnham? Can he save the Labour Party? And should we even want it to be saved?

What can Greens learn from the rise and fall of Corbyn?

The Green Party is very different to Labour, but the opposition to a rising left party will be just as intense. Corbynism showed that it's not enough to just present a popular platform - we must be ready for attacks from all sides, and to build a party that's ready for that struggle.

Coming up in 3 weeks - but we're giving you advance notice of this one so you have time to read the book 🤓

Tonight! Do Charities Really Change Anything?

In decades of austerity, we’ve seen a steady increase in charity provision replacing public services. Is this a viable way to improve society, or do charities just paper over the cracks and support a failing government?

Join us at 18:30 to discuss: https://t.co/eWoVbUOrQ2

[Bristol Transformed @BrizTransformed]

In the last year, we've seen charity workers unionising against terrible conditions and insecure employment. But the problems with charity can run deeper than just being a bad place to work.

This Tuesday we ask: Why does modern capitalism love charities? What are the harms of relying on charity? And do charities really change anything?
