En laissant à la discrétion des entreprises de diffusion en continu en ligne le montant (et si une contribution sera offerte) indique que le CRTC a non seulement omis dans sa responsabilité de tirer l’élimination des obstacles au contenu, mais à en créer de toutes nouvelles. 2/3

@Broadcast_Fund intends to draft an intervention in response to this Decision, arguing for greater certainty in funding amounts with which the Fund can meet its mandate, and will seek letters of support from other organizations in the accessibility and broadcasting sectors. 3/3
Leaving the amount (or whether a contribution is offered to us at all) to the discretion of online streaming companies is an indication that the CRTC has not only failed to leverage accessibility provisions to support the removal of barriers to content, but creates new ones. 2/3
@Broadcast_Fund Board and Staff are disappointed in the CRTC’s decision on initial base contributions, which fails to address the Commission’s responsibility to uphold the “accessibility without barriers” policy objectives and puts us in competition for limited funds. 1/3
This is an historic day! With this final vote in the Senate, Bill C-22 - the Canada Disability Benefit Act - is now on it's way to receiving Royal Assent.
