In preparation for Distrct Chorus auditions, students in Vocal Ensemble participated in a masterclass with choral director Megan Cartwright. Our choir students learned a great deal from her expertise as a performer and educator. Good luck to those who are auditioning tomorrow!
Grade 3 attended the 22nd Annual Accomack County Farm Tour Day on September 24th. It was held at the Duncan Farms in New Church owned by Bruce and Debbie Holland. The program aims to educate children about the agriculture in Accomack County.
Grade 10 students enjoy the inaugural session of silent lunch, an option now available to all Upper School students. Silent lunch occurs daily in the library during Upper School lunch period.
Grade 2 students are working on meter and rhythmic values in music class. Students composed four measures in common time and performed their compositions for each other.
Second grade has been learning about science tools and checked out the playground yesterday during science class with hand lenses. The highlight seemed to be finding a praying mantis that ended up on Mrs. Bloxom's back.
Lower school students used team building skills to build a Hula Hut in PE class. Levels were added after each challenge. The second level was to send a teammate through. Next, students will work on the third level-blindfold one teammate, build a hut and verbally direct them.
DJ McCaleb, Grade 12, Sheila Sheppard, ‘02, Natasha Smoot, ‘07, and music teacher Ms. Tarwater performed for a full house at WHRO’s Classical Open Mic Night at Lemon Tree Gallery and Studio.
