A lot of autistic ppl tweeting about not reacting to gifts.
I’d like to present my personal flavor: overreacting to gifts. If it’s thoughtful- I will cry
The Safest Place tells the story of Rosemary Anderson High School in Rockwood and the disproportionate effect of gun violence on its students and staff. For many students, the school provides a refuge. Sometimes it’s not enough.
Part 1 coming Sunday, Dec. 11
“We will not blame him for the crimes of his ancestors if he relinquishes the royal rights of his ancestors; but as long as he claims their rights, by virtue of descent, then, by virtue of descent, he must shoulder the responsibility for their crimes.” —James Connolly on George V
The autistic urge to throw in a dozen brackets and hyphens into written communication, to ensure that you cover everything without your 50 tangents taking over - or distracting from 😉 - your overall message.
In the same 24 hours, scotus made abortion illegal in half the country and the Senate of the largest, most "progressive" state in the Union confirmed that yes, they would like to keep prison slavery in place. That's sitting heavy with me today. #ACA3#RoeVsWade#EndTheException
do not donate to planned parenthood right now!!! they are incredibly well funded by regular donors, PLEASE DONATE TO ABORTION FUNDS!!!!!! especially in states with trigger laws (the south/midwest)
Shoutout to that floaty, spaced out, nothing-is-real, I’m-not-real feeling autistic people frequently get when overwhelmed, overstimulated, burnt out and/or exhausted. It can be both calming and unnerving at the same time.
It’s that time of year again. Some people believe teachers have paid summer vacation. Here’s a recap:
-we are 10 month employees not 12
-our pay is spread over 12 months
-summer pay is money we’ve already earned
-we are still teaching/learning/planning during the summer
Educators do not get paid for the school breaks.
Their paycheck can be evenly distributed throughout the whole year.
It is unpaid time off, not a vacation.
It’s very weird to see y’all dunk on teachers, social workers, therapists, etc when they say they can’t survive on their salary, telling them they should’ve picked a more lucrative career but in the same breath say “we need more teachers! we need more therapists!”
