Man was having sex with his wife during sleep almost daily. After waking up, he had no memory of the intercourse. Because of this, he would complain about their lack of sex in the relationship while awake.
He was diagnosed with a sleep disorder called sexsomnia and this device 👇 helped save their relationship.
A 37-year-old man had sexual relations during sleep with his wife on a nightly basis for many years. He had no recollection of these episodes, even though he would invariably initiate the sexual activity. This surprised him. He remembered his wife telling him about it many times, but he dismissed it in disbelief.
He eventually realized that he had been having nocturnal sex outside of awareness for 13 years. He would protest to his wife about the lack of sex in their relationship, and she would respond, “You don’t remember it.”
She explained that they would have sex in the middle of the night once or twice a week, but over a six-month period, the frequency increased to every night. His snoring was first noticed around the time these episodes began.
He would typically initiate sex between midnight and 2AM, after they had fallen asleep around 9PM. According to his wife, the sex during these episodes was “wild,” but never violent. He would perform oral sex—something he never did while awake, despite his wife’s requests.
Afterward, he would wash himself, return to bed, and fall back asleep, with no recall of the sexual event. When he requested sex while awake, his wife would refuse, citing their sexual activity the night before. He assumed she was “making an excuse.”
Once he realized he was sexually active with her without remembering it, he felt embarrassed. He then understood her reluctance and became remorseful, especially because he had suspected she might have been unfaithful.
His medical history included sleepwalking between the ages of 6 and 13 years. There was no history of psychiatric illness or substance abuse.
A sleep study revealed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Arousals related to OSA were identified as the trigger for his sleep-related abnormal sexual behavior (sexsomnia).
He was advised to use a mandibular advancement device (MAD) for his OSA. After starting the MAD, the sexsomnia stopped immediately. Five months later, he developed jaw pain and switched to nasal CPAP therapy, and the sexsomnia remained absent over six months of follow-up.

@mybmc when will this footpath opp Charni road station be fixed? Been like this for at least a year. No place for us to walk to saifee hospital. Cars parked alongside make us walk on the road. @mid_day@TOIIndiaNews
