On March 8, Cpl. Timothy O'Connor of the PA State Police was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop. Cpl. O'Connor served with the PA State Police for 16 years and is survived by his wife and daughter.

On Feb 16, PO Brian Elliott of the Beech Grove PD in Indiana was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call. A 2nd officer was also injured during this incident and is expected to recover. PO Elliot was 33 years old and is survived by his wife.
