I was listening today to Seye Maj message on God's sovereign choice this morning on my way to work. It was beautiful how he built the sermon from the Synod of Dort, and I appreciated the history he brought in. Another thing was the arguments he made even though I felt that the Ephesians 1 reference was quite read to fit a theological framework (my thoughts in personal judgement).
But there was something he said at the latter end: all Christians believe in election, just how we explain it differs. It felt so gracious for many reasons.
First, that he recognized other Christians as Christians. Beautiful. Ah. I felt so happy, and learned something I can't put to words but while we discuss the mysteries around our regeneration, we should always remember that we're brethren. Secondly, he said he holds that the Reformation view is better for him.
Then the part that blessed me the most. How do you know you're elect?
I listened a bit and paused there to meditate until I got distracted. But I really wanted to re-hear the things he was saying. They were really reinforcing the Sola Gratia truth. Things happening within more than things without, things that depend more on God than us: sorrow for sin, fear of God and desire for righteousness.
But I had a question (please, don't bother about a debate). I'm just reflecting. You know I was asking myself, and telling myself, all of these is the crisis between how much of God, and how much of man is responsible for their eternal destination.
The Reformed conclusion made God absolutely responsible for both ends in my opinion, even though, it's said to be passing over as the Esau-Jacob narrative puts it, but I feel that's a picture to show us God's grace without it being a conclusion on God's revelation in that face of scripture saying "God who wants all to be saved...and not willing that any should perish."
And then the Remonstrance (I told you all that he thought history 😂), makes it partly God and partly man; and that's also a bit tricky in the face of the substantial scripture supporting it was all of God.
And my conclusion is that we may be wrestling something altogether: the difficulty of looking at God's election and calling him unjust as Paul said in Romans 9 then adds "What if." I don't think he was making a sure statement. The opening makes it look plausible and assumptive. He wasn't sure God is doing that in my opinion.
So, I person was just reflecting. Could this be the difficulty? God chose us, and God didn't choose others; OR God quickened us to choose Him, and some chose and others didn't?
I would listen to Session 2 on my way home this evening.
May God bless those brethren, and it gladdens me personally that even the Remonstrance guys like the Protestant guys, in history, and by the fruit of their lives, were children of God.
God bless Pst. Seye and increase His grace upon Him. Such a good teacher, and not too emotive. Reminds me of @Thatnsukkaboy_ . They talk, and they just talk with much emotions. I know myself 😂😂😂
John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 HE that believeth on him is not condemned: but HE that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For EVERY ONE that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But HE that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Twist “whosoever,” “the world,” and “he that believeth” however your theology demands, but you cannot erase what Christ plainly declares here: salvation is offered through Him to all, and men stand condemned ONLY for their unbelief, not because God takes pleasure in their destruction or deliberately withheld the provision of salvation from some.
Lmao... Pastor Nathaniel don hold people for blokos.
For sisters and brothers that dressed for their weddings, he said they have to promise God that henceforth they won't have sex with anyone till their wedding night with their God ordained spouse.
Na once everywhere quiet 😂
Yes it’s a scholarship but you have to purchase an enrollment form which is very okay by me.
Don Jazzy just Announced a Tech scholarship for the year 2027 and application starts immediately.
Many people are complaining that they can’t afford the application fee for the scholarship which is around 26k or so.
Somebody gave you a scholarship of over 400k with other packages, but the application fee for the scholarship is what is your problem?
I believe this is laziness coupled with entitlement mentality that is at work here. So you want everything free so you won’t have any reason to be serious?
Faith without works is dead. If you believe, you must move. Whether you eventually meet any luck or not is within the jurisdiction of God's sovereignty but the entire Bible has always shown that Divine Providence always accustom diligence. He that sows will reap. He that work will eat.
Faithful pastors are worth their weight in gold. Theirs is a special reward in the bosom of Christ. Always thankful for my own pastors whom the Lord has thoroughly used for me. Blessed be God for His good gifts.
Too many people poorly define suffering and affliction and limit it to the pain of sickness and poverty.
If people realised how perfect and painless God's original earth was, they would admit that even the so-called pleasures of this life are an affliction when compared to the glories of the world to come.
When believers disagree over doctrine, and it leads to the tiniest of hurts or griefs, that's affliction.
When we go to church and observe the lukewarmness on the pulpit and the pew, that's affliction.
When we observe the depravity of the modern world and behold numerous inventions of iniquity, that's affliction.
Afflictions are everywhere,
Some are more excruciating than others, but the same Comforter is present to ease our aches.
Pray for the power of God to live a godly life, pray for the power of God to witness for God with boldness and mighty deeds/miracles.
They are not mutually exclusive!
You're not more holy or a better christian if you decide to focus on the former whole ignoring the latter, neither are you a better christian if you decide to do the opposite.
Power for godly living, power to witness with boldness and miracles, the NT encourages both clearly!
The point is that people don't interpret that exact statement in the context of the chapter. See how Christ gave us eternal life. So be generous with the little things you have here on earth. That's the context.
People go on to say see how Christ came and was a poor man so you can become a rich man. His exposition was the purpose of that verse in the context, not the entire chapter or area context.
Doesn't change the fact that the poverty and riches of Christ that was referred to here has nothing to do with material things.
It's like saying "Let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus" meant that we should go and suffer death on the cross.
It's an imagery of Christ total submission to God and humility as a comparison for the little submission and humility that we ought to show.
God was never a Tribal supporting Deity. Israel was merely his Vehicle to Spread Salvation to the World. The foundational promise to Abraham in Genesis 12-13 refutes your first sentence. “in you ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH shall be blessed.”
Isaiah 49:6 says the Servant will be “a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the Ends of the Earth”
Zeph 3:10 speaks of worshipers coming “from beyond the rivers of Cush” (the region of ancient Ethiopia/Nubia).
Same God you claim had nothing for Africans meanwhile Acts 8:26–39 recounts that the conversion and baptism of the “Ethiopian” Eunuch court official Was the 1st Ever recorded Gentile convert after Pentecost outside of the Jewish-Samaritan circle.

I Confirm that, with my approval, earlier this morning, the index case for Nigeria’s first imported Ebola virus disease departed Abuja for Switzerland. The index patient was clinically much improved, stable, conscious, communicating, and her clinical laboratory test results closing towards baseline. This does not mean she is not still infectious, hence the strict protocols in place.
The patient was evacuated along with her spouse who has remained asymptomatic.
I thank all the various clinical staff for the high quality care they provided the patient as well as the public health personnel who ensured the evacuation was carried out in line with best public health measures for such evacuations.
We will provide further updates later this afternoon after the patient and her spouse lands successfully in their destination.
All public health measures are continuing to ensure successful containment of the imported virus. I urge Nigerians to remain vigilant and rely on information from credible sources.
