But this did lead me to an obvious point:
We defenders of liberal democracy here in the U.S. need to go from a non-exhausted defense to a vigorous offense on its behalf. We need to claim the future, to claim the 21st century. And I do think the evidence and arguments are there.
They said they'd come for abortion and they did it. There is every reason to believe them when they say they're going to end Social Security.
Ask your friends & family who intent to vote Republican this fall if they think they & their loved ones could get by without it.
Worth re-reading. But in light of the current fad on the Right of politicians invoking Christianity, and for that matter God, I particularly recommend Article VI: “No religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
Let us not forget that the Cannon decision is a direct result of a President and party that have appointed partisans to the bench who don’t take their oaths seriously to administer the law equally and fairly.
Not true of all appointees, but should not be true of any.
Just to be clear, this is not a controversial statement: Judge Cannon has ruled that the attorney general of the United States may not look at lawfully seized fruits (nobody says otherwise) of a criminal investigation. That itself is a breathtaking overreach.
Hard to disagree with @AshaRangappa_ here. Judge Cannon seems unready for prime time, barely fit to wield her gavel. But she wielded it all right — and now we’re stuck, at least for the time being. Yet justice delayed here could well be justice denied — and then some.
All the legal back-and-forth that will follow Judge Cannon's bad ruling shouldn't obscure these unchallenged facts:
Trump took classified documents when he shouldn't have.
Trump kept classified docs after being asked for them back.
Trump obstructed the effort to get them back.
It's not just that he stole the docs. And it's not just that he lied about them. It’s that every fact we learn makes it worse and worse
First, it was maybe some docs at Mar a Lago
Then, we learned was highly classified docs
Then we learned was human source info/electronic

"But there’s no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans. And that is a threat to this country.'
Clear and correct.

President Biden: "Now, I want to be very clear, very clear up front. Not every Republican, not even the majority of Republicans, are MAGA Republicans. Not every Republican embraces their extreme ideology. I know, because I’ve been able to work with these mainstream Republicans...
And content of these documents was the intelligence equivalent of radioactive - human sources, signals intelligence and FISA collection. Disclosure risks the lives of our overseas sources reporting on hostile foreign adversaries and compromises our ability to collect intelligence
