I like gambling. This was a total money gamble. I directly engaged the compressor with the gages on to see what it would do in the state I got the car in.

Drew down a hard vacuum. Needed the filter dryer replaced and the lines flushed. Easy stuff.

New filter dryer. Two cans of R134, the car has LIFE SUPPORT WOOOOO

When I said I fixed the Air Conditioner in my car, I mean it. I just had to replace some of the crush seals and add some oil to the compressor.

The system is holding its charge and blows exceptionally cold for being a retrofitted system. The car was originally R12, but thats long since banned and difficult and expensive to find anymore.

R134 gives satisfactory results after some timing adjustments to the cycle of the system.

The only issue I currently have is the timing. I am having refrigerant stacking going on right now, so I manually cycle it to prevent it from icing over.

Well the thing I gathered from reading up on them, is the transfer case was the weak point of the 4x4, so it had a lower towing rating, so you could get a base model, 2WD jeep, for that purpose.

I cannot imagine walking into a Jeep dealer and being like yo give me a 2 wheel drive jeep

As a note: You will very often find me in the right lane.

My cars are mechanically more limited than modern cars, so if I cannot maintain speed with the flow of traffic, my ass is in the far right lane where it belongs, doing my best.

My three speed cars pretty well max at 75. Anymore it's just mechanical abuse.

My 4 on the floor car can hold 80 and not sound like its going to explode, but again, 44 years old, rather not.
