Atmospheric chemistry research group at University of Colorado - Boulder.
We research reduced nitrogen compounds with chemical ionization mass spectrometry
We welcome abstracts on lab, modeling, observational, and instrumental work. We aim to facilitate collaboration across disciplines. Please reach out with any questions! More information here https://t.co/bJzCYUTzcj
Working on planetary aerosols, clouds, or hazes? Ellie and Melissa Trainer are organizing a special symposium at the @AmericanAerosol fall meeting. "Planetary Aerosols: From Earth to Exoplanets"
Opening on campus Jan. 18. CO artists, communities, and CU Boulder scientists created art that tells the story of how Coloradans are experiencing challenges of fire, drought, and water and air quality. @CUBoulder https://t.co/neK4dm7B39
Thanks to Ginny and Sandeep for collaborating with us on the work! And to NSF for funding and @CIRESnews for Mitch's graduate research fellowship. #NSFfunded
Happy to share that Mitch's final paper from his dissertation is out in @JPhysChem !
Volatile Methyl Siloxane Atmospheric Oxidation Mechanism from a Theoretical Perspective─How is the Siloxanol Formed? | The Journal of Physical Chemistry A https://t.co/74ByhtHsRl
This new work indicates that there is some unique chemistry that siloxanes undergo. And it suggests that our standard "textbook" oxidation mechanisms are insufficient when considering emerging VOCs.
Access to state-of-the-art facilities at an @Energy national lab is a great way to make your graduate research unique. We've just chosen 60 students for our Graduate Student Research program, which will prepare them for positions relevant to our mission: https://t.co/2RuGkJFdTe
Congrats to Hanalei on her #NASA#FINESST fellowship! She will be investigating haze formation in planetary atmospheres specifically looking at if methane is required for organic aerosol formation. Way to go Hanalei!!
#AAAR is supporting access to a new resource! The EPSRC Center for Doctoral Training in Aerosol Science has developed a web platform for #aerosol training. Students can register on the AAAR website under resources: https://t.co/M2Tlr2IXye
Ebenezer @CUBoulderCHEM undergrad was accepted into the McNair scholars program. And last but not least Karla (not pictured), CHEM undergrad and former @CiresEO RECCS student, was accepted into the McNair program, NASA SARP summer program, and is an incoming NOAA Hollings fellow!
So many student accomplishments to recognize from the past few weeks!! From left to right. Nate Reed (joint with Tolbert group) successfully defended his PhD dissertation "The Effects of Trace H2S in Laboratory Experiments of Planetary Organic Haze Chemistry."
Bri gave a fantastic 3rd year divisional seminar on their work on new particle formation at the DOE ARM Southern Great Plains site. Hanalei passed her PhD candidacy exam. Daniel's first paper (on ambient ions at SGP) was accepted https://t.co/NS7UqCT1fj
