🇳🇱 Dutch Pension Giant Dumps Caterpillar Over Israel Ties
The Netherlands’ ABP, one of the world’s largest pension funds (€615B), has sold its €387M ($418M) stake in Caterpillar, saying investments must be “socially responsible” (Reuters).
➤ Caterpillar’s D9 bulldozers are modified and deployed by the Israeli military to raze homes, uproot farmland, and dismantle civilian infrastructure in Gaza and the West Bank — tools central to the displacement and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
➤ The UN first warned in 2012 it could be complicit in rights violations, and in July 2025 UN rapporteur @FranceskAlbs said firms like Caterpillar form part of the “economic machinery” sustaining Israel’s genocide and warned of complicity for the companies and investors. Amnesty International has long flagged the company’s role in these abuses and listed it in its 2025 briefing “Pull the Plug on the Political Economy Enabling Israel’s Crimes,”
➤ The move follows Norway’s $2T sovereign wealth fund divesting in August, citing Caterpillar’s role in “extensive and systematic violations of international humanitarian law.”
This is a very important empirical (!) study accounting for the mental health impact of genocide on health care workers in Gaza. Much respect to researchers who conducted a survey under the hardest conditions, especially those in Gaza. These urgent testimonies warrant to be read
We are a river whose power is growing. For Israel to win the long game, it must either indoctrinate us into its racist ideology, or succeed in suppressing us https://t.co/HlGCProEqR
something but won’t help those whom Israel is starving to death. That is because a) Israel won’t care, and b) Many of those in Gaza will be dead by September. If Starmer et al. want to stop this forced starvation, then stop enabling it. Sanction Israel and stop arming it! /2
I suppose us Palestinians are meant to be grateful for these crumbs from the empire, but this symbolic gesture (used as a threat despite Starmer saying recognition of a Palestinian state is our inalienable right) makes it look like they’re doing /1

baby after baby being starved & killed by a policy of extermination that was put explicitly in place on Oct 8th, 2023 and supported by every fucking ghoul who today is issuing platitudes of condemnation in a reputational housekeeping attempt
The haunted eyes of a starving child: possibly dead by the time you read this. Powerful page 1 not of an anti-Israel or anti-semitic paper but the UK's most conservative. The UN says 80% of Gazans who've died of malnutrition are children. How long will the world let this go on?
All attacks on our communities are abhorrent, everyone has a right to feel safe and we must all stand together against any forms of hatred and bigotry.
To this end, the Aust Human Rights Commission (AHRC) already has a National Anti-Racism Framework that rightly centres First Nations, applies a human rights lens, protects free speech, treats all communities equally and includes guidance across government, education, media and other sectors. This should be implemented.
Antisemitism has been systematically weaponised to silence criticism of Israel in Australia against journalists, students, athletes, artists, as well as denials of entry to the US, attacks on the UN, judicial bodies, officials, judges and, in recent days, rapporteurs.
These attempts to impugn and silence people for critical human rights advocacy to prevent or stop genocide, apartheid, forced starvation and ethnic cleansing, are now a breach of Australian discrimination law.
The Federal Court of Australia recently entered two principles into law per Stewart J: just as it is not antisemitic to criticise Israel, so too, is it antisemitic to blame all Jewish people for (or conflate them with), the actions of Israel.
This legal guidance should inform any media coverage, public commentary, and work going forward.
Importantly, since the July 2024 ICJ advisory opinion on racial segregation and apartheid in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, anyone supporting illegal settlements or discriminatory Israeli policies is, in fact, supporting racism.
It would be impossible for anyone supporting racial segregation or apartheid to be involved in anti-racism policy. One self-evidently cannot attack racism, by supporting racism.
The essence of multiculturalism and the bedrock of our national vision of social cohesion is equal rights and treatment for all communities.
Which is exactly what the AHRC Framework is designed to do.
After interviews on ABC radio, Channel 7 news and the Sydney Morning Herald/The Age, I *think* the news storm about sex selection may have died down now. On one hand, I'm sad that society is still so gendered as to keep driving people to this technology. But on the other hand/1
the journalists I spoke with seemed to be much more receptive to the views I was expressing than they were nearly 10 years ago. I think that is due in no small part to advocacy from the LGBTIQ+ community, which has raised awareness among the public about the difference between/2
