. @KawalaRachael "Today, 23rd June 2026, Police patrol officers successfully foiled an armed robbery incident in Ssemwogerere Zone, Nakawa Division, Kampala District.

Preliminary information indicates that at about 0050 hours, a businessman together with his wife was walking along Mukasa Road when they were intercepted by three armed robbers. The suspects ordered the couple to stop and lie down, which they complied with.

The robbers proceeded to rob the businessman of his mobile phone and wallet at gunpoint. As they turned to demand the woman’s phone, police officers who were conducting motorcycle patrols in the area arrived at the scene.

Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects fled, abandoning a bag that contained suspected stolen property and a rifle.

Police officers immediately pursued the suspects, and during the operation, one unidentified male suspect, believed to be approximately 25 years old, was put out of action.

Four patients have successfully recovered and been discharged.

The 3 new cases were contacts to confirmed cases who have been in institutional quarantine by the Ministry of Health.

Unfortunately, one person, a Congolese national passed on. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

The country remains safe and open for all.

The Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety apprehended 551 drivers & riders over the past week for various traffic offenses. The offenses included:

-Driving a Motor Vehicle in a dangerous mechanical condition (DMC) – 185
-Careless Overtaking – 84
-Driving Without a valid driving license – 121
-Riding Without a Helmet – 60
-Illegal Vehicle Modification – 38
-Dangerous loading – 24
-Violation of traffic directions – 21
-Riding Without a valid riding license – 13
- Violating route charts – 3
- Abandoning a vehicle on the Road – 1

These enforcement operations are ongoing. All drivers & riders are urged to obey traffic rules & regulations to enhance road safety & prevent crashes
