@CBradwell22@McCoolWILMu What a good question - I find that social media is a double edged sword. On the one hand, apps like TikTok can keep students engaged, but I find it also helps create a society that ingests media at a rapid pace. #wuedt6020
@MsHale302 Coding, to me, shows students that failure is ok. As you develop longer strands of code, the easier it is to break that code. I think being able to learn from a mistake and fix that mistake makes you a better coder. #wuedt6020
@BBenoit0715 I wish we had the google suite when I was younger. Collaborating still happened, but being able to share with one another in school and out of school would have made managing time a little easier. #wuedt6020
@MsHale302 The idea of learning from failing. Coding isn't easy and what I have learned from coding myself is that you can fix one problem, but that might create new problems down the line. Knowing that failing is ok and learning from it is what coding is all about! #wuedt6020
@mfranchetti9711 Kahoot is a big hit every time I walk into a classroom. Students love to compete and I love the creativeness you can have when building your kahoot. Even when we have events for our staff members, we sometimes build a kahoot! #wuedt6020
One strategy that this program has brought to my attention was the use of https://t.co/JY6XjqRSvY. This program lets you create your own board game with different mini games all centered around whatever you want it to be. #wuedt6020
@TeachingTechDE@EdTechLaura I haven't hear of Lumio, but I have used Nearpod, and it is a great learning tool! I love the idea of being able to create whole presentations with reinforcers within the presentation to let students learn at their own pace. #wuedt6020
@MsphillipsA114@EdTechLaura I agree! I find that the google drive offers so much collaboration for any grade level! Being able to work on something simultaneously in person or at home is probably one of the coolest things to have happened in technology! #wuedt6020
@EdTechLaura One tool that I got to know well in this program was https://t.co/JY6XjqRSvY. This software as a service (which is free) can let you customize your own game and have students progress through activities that are created by you, so you can cater to your class's needs. #wuedt6020
@HarroldManskEDT Microlearning is a new trend that I really didn't know the name for! We live in a fast pace world, and it seems microlearning is congruent with the path of how people use technology everyday, short and to the point. #wuedt6020
@EdTechLaura To add to that - we are currently piloting an eSports team, and though this is an extra curricular, the coaches were just discussing how we have 7th and 8th graders building relationships with one another over video games, just think how lessons could work #wuedt6020
@EdTechLaura I am a big fan of Gamification, I think that being able to take the motivation gaming provides and applying them to the classroom is a step in the right direction for learning.
@miketenutowilmu 100% Michael, it is quite apparent when you have students who are invested into a subject! For me, finding students who want to participate in the morning announcements can be challenging! #wuedt6020
@Harkin17Jessica Gamification in the classroom, to me, is a step in the right direction for learning. Children and Adults have different motivations for learning, and being able to take motivation and mix it with games is a great way to add a new layer onto learning.
@miketenutowilmu I love the idea of having students work at their own pace on a topic that they choose. The Genius Hour is a very cool idea to implement in schools to help students find something that they are interested in. I know I am more motivated on things that interest me!
From all the different emerging trends, I decided to focus on gamification. My love for video games will fuel my curiosity for more gaming in the education field. #wuedt6020
