The new year loses much of its meaning when you have a time machine. But Claudia is a traditionalist. She periodically goes back to the start of her favorite year whenever she wants to make a vow about the person she intends to become whenever the future finally arrives.
After spending almost a decade at startups, I’ve realized that org design is an underrated skill. A well thought out org structure is integral to revenue growth, hiring, and retention.
Org design says more about your company strategy than a strategy doc ever can.
One of the hardest things to teach in software engineering: it's literally all made up, functions are just GOTOs, the computer doesn't care what anything is called, almost all the "structure" in our code is only there to make something convenient for another human to comprehend
As a software developer, you may be called upon to perform some of these tasks in your career.
How well a CS degree prepares you for these tasks (and whether it even should prepare you for these) is left as an exercise to the reader.

I find that in my work role, I'm in a continuous state of leaning forward. The only way that I don't fall on my face is by continuously adjusting and readjusting and compensating. This what leadership feels like to me. It's not a bad thing, but if I stay still, I will faceplant.
