In their Q2 10Q Tesla said: "In the second quarter of 2026, Tesla acquired an AI hardware company in an asset acquisition for $1.95 billion in Tesla common stock and equity awards, of which $1.73 billion is subject to certain service conditions and/or performance milestones dependent on the successful deployment of the company's technology and $222 million was allocated to a patent and related developed technology intangible asset. For the three months ended June 30, 2026, no stock-based compensation expense related to the performance-based awards was recognized as the performance conditions were determined to be improbable."

BREAKING 🚨 Tesla is packing the Cybercab with a much more powerful FSD computer than what you'll find in standard consumer cars like the Model 3 or Model Y.
The biggest upgrade to this new driving computer comes down to a massive bump in onboard memory.
While the standard AI4 computers in consumer vehicles max out at 32GB of RAM, the Cybercab's system easily blows past that limit to crush current processing bottlenecks.
All that extra RAM is a huge deal. It gives the vehicle the necessary headroom to run the larger, more complex neural networks required for FSD. It’s still up in the air whether these early Cybercabs are running a pre-production AI4+ chip with 64GB of RAM, a dual AI4 board setup, or even an early version of the upcoming AI5 chip.
This beefed-up computing muscle makes perfect sense given the Cybercab's design. Recent first responder documents confirm the car features an SAE Level 4 Autonomous Mode, meaning it's built from the ground up to operate completely without human intervention.

Tesla also says that they deployed 13.5 GWh of energy storage in Q2 2026.
GOOD NEWS 🚨 According to a recent research report from Nomura, Tesla has raised the annualized production capacity target for its Optimus Gen 3 at the Fremont plant to roughly 70,000 units, making use of factory space repurposed from older vehicle assembly lines.
Looking ahead, Tesla plans to add another 70,000 units of capacity at its Austin facility by 2028. These near-term expansions are laying the groundwork for a highly ambitious, long-term capacity target of 1.5 million units.
Based on supply chain orders, Optimus shipments for 2026 are projected to hit around 25,000 units. Analysts have factored in a margin of error of about 10,000 units as these complex new assembly lines get up to speed.
Production momentum is expected to ramp up significantly in the coming months. By September, Tesla's weekly production target for the humanoid robot is expected to reach roughly 1,000 units, signaling a massive push in manufacturing speed.
This rapid scaling lines up perfectly with broader institutional timelines. According to insights from UBS Group, the official launch window for the Optimus Gen 3 is expected between July and August, marking a major shift from lab prototypes to real-world industrial assets.
