sobosuba demo is live on steam!
You can play it now, link below
The idea for the demo was to lower the "game-over bumpers" (the little bumps either side) so games are much shorter.

Sometimes funny and crazy things happen as a result of randomness and emergent behaviour. For example here the cloud of gas gets combusted by the lightning sparks, which bypasses the reflective shield.

@MomijiStudios Thing is, steam will put your game infront of more people based on their internal weights; more clickthroughs, wishlists, purchases all go towards that. Marketing is overvalued, steam will essentially market your game for you if people on average show interest.
@MomijiStudios That could be true and i am not arguing the game isn't coded well or doesn't have good design ideas; but the truth is most people will get turned off by the graphics. A game that looks great may not even need as much marketing behind it, because people will open it in the store.
@borbware@ComfieDev@a327ex But they didn't make a good game, they made a game in a niche genre with extremely lackluster graphics.
You are competing against every other game out there for attention, and if you want your game to succeed you must realize your artistic shortcomings and improve.
@MomijiStudios "the game is good, so that's not the problem"
This approach is where it's wrong already; at such few reviews, this score does not mean that the game is good, it's a tiny sample size, and Steams algorithm accounts for that. For all it knows, those reviews could all be your friends
@rilemtwit@a327ex This is what any indie dev should aim to do; find a community that is not a hugbox. Otherwise you will never hear valid criticism because in most dev discords, people just go there to "be nice" and to shill their project.
@MomijiStudios If i had to guess as to why the sales didn't meet your expectations, it's the massive pricetag. Also looking at it, the graphics would be in immediate turn-off for all but hardcore fans of the genre.
