Following an incredible adventure in Australia, it is time to start an exciting new chapter. I can’t wait to commence my new role as Head Coach of @XamaxFCS. Please read about it in my latest blog. >> https://t.co/P22L4hozxm
Oporto Sports is delighted to announce that we will be representing current @MFCBulls assistant head coach, @BrunoBerner.
Berner’s coaching career began in Switzerland in 2012 with a three-year spell with @fc_zuerich, working across their academy from U13s through to U21s. After a brief period working in marketing and leadership, Bruno was named as manager of FC Tuggen in the Swiss third tier, and then moved to SC Kriens, winning the title and promotion to the Swiss Challenge League in his first season.
Berner kept Kriens in the second tier for three consecutive seasons, reaching the Swiss Cup quarter-finals on two occasions, achievements made all the more remarkable as they were the only semi-professional side at that level.
In 2021 he joined @SFV_ASF, managing their U19s and U20s sides, before his first taste of the Swiss Super League in the 2022/23 season, keeping newly-promoted FC Winterthur in the top flight. This success led to an opportunity to join @gc_zuerich, his boyhood team, as head coach for the 2023/24 season, and he was on course to retain their Super League status until a takeover and change of Chairman and Sporting Director resulted in Bruno’s departure.
Last summer, Bruno joined A-League side Macarthur Bulls as their assistant head coach, with the club reaching the last 16 of the Asian Champions League 2 this season.
Bruno also enjoyed a successful playing career beginning with Grasshopper Club Zurich, where he won the Swiss title twice, before winning promotion to the Bundesliga with Freiburg, and a return to Switzerland with @FCBasel1893. He ended his playing career in England with spells at @Rovers and @LCFC, where he won the @SkyBetLeagueOne title and reached the @SkyBetChamp play-offs. He was capped 16 times by the Swiss national team, and was named as part of their 2004 UEFA European Championship squad.

Prior to joining @mfcbulls as assistant coach, I’d heard a lot about the unique way of life that living and working in Sydney offers. What a wonderful place to be able to sit and work, as I analyse match footage to prepare for our forthcoming A-League challenges.
From Zurich to Bangkok 🇨🇭✈️🇹🇭
The Round of 16 is here, but this trip to Thailand means more than just football. I’m incredibly proud to share that my mother is flying from Switzerland to support the Macarthur Bulls!

Oporto Sports client and @mfcbulls assistant @BrunoBerner , is enjoying a great run of form in the @aleaguemen, as well as in the Asian Champions League Two.
Macarthur Bulls are third in the table, and face a derby match against second-placed Sydney FC this weekend, where a victory could take Macarthur to the top of the table, if results go their way.
In the Asian Champions League Two last 16, Berner will face a trip to Bangkok United on 12 February, before the return leg a week later.
Berner joined Macarthur in July 2025, after spells managing in Switzerland with SC Kriens, the Swiss U19s and U20s, Winterthur and Grasshopper Club Zurich.

My blog is back.
As I embark on a new adventure as assistant coach of @mfcbulls in Australia’s A-League, I’ve reflected on my early weeks in the role, and of my decision to commence the next stage of my coaching journey on the other side of the world.

I am proud to have been asked to feature in a new book, ‘Mir Nach!’ (translated to ‘Follow Me!’), which features the life stories of a selection of Swiss public figures in leadership positions.
Written by Christina and Christian Boss, and published by Reinhardt, it’s was a pleasure to recount my journey from childhood to professional football, coaching, media work, and ventures outside the game. To be featured alongside a number of illustrious figures is an honour.
Many of my thoughts have been for Shakey's family and close friends at this sad time, and my thoughts and prayers continue to be with them. He'll be sorely missed by all.
It's been just under a week since I, like all of us, heard of the passing of a great man in Craig Shakespeare.
Upon hearing the news, I found it difficult to find the words to express how much Shakey meant to me, and how much his loss will be felt by all that knew him. 🧵🔽
