Students in all grades and St. Patrick’s Day fun last week in the media center! They created catapults, engineered strong rainbows, and coded robot “leprechauns” to complete mazes they built to get to a pot of gold.
Using a meter stick and Blockly for Dash, 5th grade students coded their robot to travel around the block. They added a dance at the end so Dash could celebrate the end of the adventure! #mediacenter#coding#STEM
“There are charms to secure happiness. If you believe that you are going to be lucky, you go about your business with a smile, you take disaster with a smile, you start afresh with a smile. And to do that is to be in the way of happiness.” ~A.A.Milne #saturdaymotivation#lucky
“I can face the winter with calm. Crisp and sparkling days, long pleasant evenings, cheery fires. Good work shall be done this winter. Life shall be lived well. The end of the summer is not the end of the world. Here’s to October.” ~A.A.Milne #October#October1
This morning, our library was filled with cozy moments, great books, and smiling faces as families joined us for Snuggle Up and Read! Parents, grandparents, and students enjoyed breakfast snacks while sharing stories together. What a wonderful way to start the day!
Students in fourth and fifth grades created something with Lego glasses to represent themselves this week. All of our picture books had a theme of family, traditions, being proud, and the importance of our names!
We only have a few spots left for next week's Snuggle and Read, which takes place on Tuesday, September 30 from 8:00 to 8:30 am in the Thomas Jefferson Media Center. Can’t wait!
Last week, we read @peterhreynolds books in the media center to recognize International Dot Day, which celebrates creativity and positivity! Students made their mark by adding a dot and turning it into whatever their imagination came up with. #internationaldotday#dotday
I am almost finished creating our family stem kits, made possible by our @RAILSLibraries grant! I’m so excited to introduce these to families and have them start checking them out to take home! #mediacenter#schoollibrarian
@colbysharp I am so stuck in this one! I’m usually pretty quick, but I’ve had it open for half an hour now and I keep going back to it. I have the last two letters and one of the first two letters, but I don’t know what spot it goes in and I swear I’ve tried every combination! 😆
Week 2! Our focus was joy of reading and choosing the perfect book. @Novel_Effect 📚🎶✨ soundscapes were amazing for How To Read a Book, Library Lion, and Nibbles the Book Monster!
The 7th-grade Aux Sable mentors had their first visit with our first graders this week during lunch and recess! This partnership is a wonderful way for our students to build positive connections and friendships with older role models!
🚨EEK run because new book buddies are out at @Kohls AND they have soundscapes on Novel Effect to bring the stories to life! 🎶📚 Retweet to spread the word!
