MTN Uganda Stands with the Planet for Earth Hour 2026!
This Saturday, 28th March, MTN Uganda is proud to join millions around the world in switching off non-essential lights for one hour because every action counts.
But we didn’t stop at switching off lights.
This year, we took our commitment a step further by partnering with WWF Uganda to plant and grow a sustainable woodlot on 5 hectares of land at St. Joseph Vocational Training Institute, TECO Munteme, Kikuube District a living legacy for the communities and ecosystems that sustain us all.
At MTN Uganda, we believe that a connected future must also be a green future. Our participation in Earth Hour reflects our dedication to environmental sustainability, responsible business, and the well-being of the communities we serve across Uganda.
Tonight, we dim our lights…so tomorrow, Uganda can shine brighter.
Join us. Switch off your lights from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM and be part of the movement.

The struggle for data and lab space ends today.
We heard the challenges…limited access, slow Wi-Fi, and hectic workflows.
The #MTNSparkHub is here to change that, giving Kabale’s brightest minds consistent, high-speed tools to build.
The future is officially fueled.

Happy #WorldEarthDay 🌍
As the world marked #EarthDay, we chose to do more than celebrate. We took a tangible step forward, launching our headquarters’ solar energy system and increasing the share of clean, renewable energy powering our operations.
This investment goes beyond infrastructure. It signals a deliberate shift in how we think about growth, efficiency, and responsibility, building a business that is resilient today and sustainable for the future.
ESG is not a department. It’s a mindset.
One of the most persistent myths in corporate life is that sustainability belongs to a team, something you can point to and say, “they handle that.”
ESG shows up in who we hire and whether we are truly building diverse, inclusive teams. It shows up in how we use resources, and how accountable we are for waste. It shows up in the standards we hold ourselves to, especially when no one is watching.
This week, we set out to demystify ESG and bring it to life across the business, for every @mtnug employee, regardless of role.
Because lasting impact doesn’t come from a function. It comes from shared ownership.
Sustainability isn’t a parallel agenda. It’s how we do business. Every single day.
🌱 This Earth Day, something powerful happened at MTN Uganda HQ.
Our teams gathered not just to mark the day but to deepen their understanding of ESG and sustainability: what it means for our planet, our business, and the choices we make every single day.
And then we flipped the switch.
Our office solar system is now LIVE, a tangible, lasting step toward carbon reduction and business sustainability.
Small actions. Big impact. One team.
Together, we are unstoppable.

For one hour today, we switch off the lights…but more importantly, we switch on awareness.
Earth Hour is a reminder that protecting our planet starts with small, intentional actions; taken consistently.
The future we want is not something we wait for. It’s something we build.
Let’s choose sustainability.
Let’s choose responsibility.
Let’s choose Earth. 🌍

In Nyenje, Mukono.
Every morning, women show up…to bake, to sell, to try again. Through smoke, breakdowns, and long days, they keep going.
Not because it’s easy. But because they believe it can be better.
This is the spirit of #MTNChangeMakers, starting with what you have and refusing to stop.
And this is where change begins.
#DoingForTomorrowToday
Today, KMC hosted @mtnug CEO @sylmulinge & her Executive Team at the Kiira Vehicle Plant.

Today, I had the privilege of touring the @KiiraMotors Corporation vehicle plant in Jinja, guided by its founding CEO @PIMusasizi.
Together with my team, we witnessed firsthand how Uganda is taking a leading role in advancing electric mobility and digital innovation across Africa. Walking through the facility and seeing the level of engineering excellence behind the buses being was truly inspiring, and a powerful reminder of the immense potential ahead.

Our CEO, @sylmulinge, applauded the Chairperson, Peace Barry, for her resilience.
From selling sambusas to pay school fees to now uplifting a whole community, her story is a reminder that where you start doesn’t define where you can go.
This is what #MTNChangeMakers stands for
Our CEO @sylmulinge got right into the action.
From checking out the new tailoring projects to lending a hand with hair braiding, it’s all about that human connection.
