Whatever happened to FAST food?

Whether you’re waiting inside or in the drive-thru, everything takes longer now. A worker notes something we often overlook: customers are sometimes part of the problem.

People reach the counter or speaker without knowing what they want, linger over the menu, call someone to ask, fiddle with the app, make special requests, or wait until the last second for sauces and extras.

Some restaurants are understaffed, poorly managed, or just slow. I’ve stood at counters wondering if anyone would ever take my order.

It goes both ways. Fast-food restaurants need to speed up again, but customers can help by knowing what they want and being ready.

Maybe “fast food” could actually be fast again.
