I was a tenured associate professor, but was forced into early medical retirement by Generalized Myasthenia Gravis at age 55. I am almost four years post diagnosis, and have survived acute respiratory failure twice. I am trying to write and find some way to make a contribution.

My religious training since my youth has taught me to strive to be forgiving, charitable, kind and non-judgmental. I feel guilty when I fall short. When folks are hateful of religion, I have to wonder why they are opposed to these things?

@OriginalGrogna1 I play what the group plays. It's hard for me to tell the difference between Pathfinder and #DND 3. I always thought third edition was very well designed, although I personally run hot and cold on use of miniatures versus "theater of the mind."

@Nerdcognito I am a huge fan of Silver Age (Marvel) and Golden Age (DC) comics. I really wish Superhero games received more support. Also, IMHO it's hard to make a better universal #ttrpg system than #Champions/#HeroSystem.

@DrCEJohnston I never attended my graduation ceremony. My PhD was awarded at the University of Illinois in July, but the ceremony was the following June, by which time I was living in Florida and teaching High School Mathematics for about $34,000 per year, (yes with a PhD.)

@DaveXDavieau My understanding of line of sight and a number of other military concepts comes from this game. Computer gamers will never understand how influential and wonderful this game was.

@DieinPlace Lots of early #ttrpg games were table driven, probably because the miniature rules and hex & counter war-games of that era were table based. #CallOfCthulhu is still roll under percentile based, and #HeroSystem (#Champions) is still 3d6 roll under.

@fabiaschi If you think about it, the original #Traveller #ttrpg made character generation a game in itself. Players chose to re-enlist for an additional tour of military service to get one more roll on the skills table, and risked losing it all.

@Monkey7771 I always thought that #Chill was underappreciated as a Horror #ttrpg. I still have two copies of the second edition rulebook, but my gaming group wanted to play #CallOfCthulhu or #WorldOfDarkness instead. 😰

@SandyofCthulhu I'm willing to drop some serious coin on games. I've happily bought at least one copy of the core rule-books for every edition of #DND, & owned two copies of Squad Leader. But, I don't buy subscriptions to online games. I resent the #SoftwareAsAService (#SAAS) business model.
