Been in rail transportation for 40 years and still going. It has been rewarding, facinating and fun. The highlight was being a awarded a Queen's Medal's Medal
@OrdealByIce@natnewswatch The Corridor was 75 bucks with C.N. in 1970. In 1978 VIA took over passenger rail. This saved Canada billions as the entire C.P and CN passenger services collapsed. VIa pays all costs now with its owner the Minister of Transport. Go for a ride on the Reading (monoply)
@RAILMARKETCOM This type of train was suggested from Vancouver B.C. to Chilliwack B.C. Canada. However all we got was a Skytrain extention. We had a hydrogen supplier and yet , not yet. Solar powered as the sun blinds our eyes now as we drive into the sun set with sunglasses being useless.
@atensnut went to far saying one cannot deal with theses terrorists. Looking at it the other way Iran cannot deal with western reporters who paint the town red when its not. If you could find respect for others, instead of your own.
@RussianArmy_ not massive people have no idea of Russia's potential or more import the Kemlin's bigger picture going toward north east Germany. One can imagine NATO forces looking at triple power of this small black cloud reported no western news service
@VancouverSun@financialpost Canada does not need submarines. They are not the defence warranted by other nations. Is this just to keep people employed? Look at the size of Canada and its isolated shore line. The outside points of view offer little resistance to submarines as a choice.
@KerryLynneFindl When I was a kid it was called the Deas Island thruway. It joined downtown Vancouver to Seattle in 3 hours. Seattle's World Fair in 1962 became a fast shorter way. It was about joining up with the U.S. on I-5. It still is. The population has grown but the tunnel has not.
@LiveWireCalgary Money now going into the war chest. Every transit system has suffered cut backs or will in the future as North America decides how to protect itself
@HSRail I think climate change will douse this plan before it is considered. Railways big expense is climate change and its geographic perils and maintenance costs. Fuel prices rising against the cost of equipment. Heat on metal is weakening the railways revenue line. No to HSR
@MassTransitmag@Caltrain Four years before the Second World War urban transit funds went to the upcoming war that could not be averted. Loco factories turned out tanks, streetcar factories became obsolete and military equipment made instead. It was a boom to unemployment and a public debt problem. ok
@HSRail Never think that freight railroads have an edge on there public image. Most remain silent because the Class 1 railways do not want to tarnish the silverware in the diner. Electrify their main lines for a few fast passenger trains and say sorry about the stains on the utensils.
@humantransit I can remember planning the West Coast Express from Vancouver to Mission B.C. in 1990. We also tested Sounder cars up here as Bombardier made the cars compatible with Toronto cars and the L.A. Metrolink. Every commuter train with bi-level cars has been successful over the years.
@DailyHiveVan It was tough enough getting the Canada line there. We do not have connections that would benefit high speed rail. Nobody here is a high speed person we are not in a rush. Relax rail speed is not essential to arrive when the rider expects too. Slow down and live.
