A flavour of life in the geography department of a 13-18 HMC school. We teach the Edexcel IGCSE and CIE A level.

The last few days were spent trekking in the High Atlas mountains taking in the amazing scenery, geology, hazard management, weathering, regional disparities, mountain life 🐐 and the impacts of tourism…with a well-earned hammam after the big trek. 3/3

Superb week of cultural and geographical immersion with A2/A3 in Morocco. We began and ended with an exploration of the #Medina and the urban area of #Marrakech To what extent is it a ‘dual city’? 1/3

We then headed for the Agafay desert 🐪 to appreciate the impact of deflation, exfoliation and sheet wash. We also walked through a wadi and looked at the adaptations of plants and animals to arid environments (as well as how to put on Berber headgear!). 2/3

Enjoyed a beautiful run yesterday morning putting out the arrows for the @BryanstonSchool annual walk. Seemed to work - didn't hear reports of mass losses en route! Hope the students appreciated the Bluebells, butterflies and birds too... 🦋🌞 @BryCoCurriculum

Week 4 of remote teaching and the mood needed lifting. Invited my A level students to attend #Galapagos lesson in themed dress. I taught as Darwin in Teams tropical together mode. One lad had a seal onesie on - quality! Lots of beach shirts and sunglasses. Just the tonic 🦎🐧😎

@ucas_online I would like to know what % of A level students in the UK (and also just England if possible) were awarded A*AAA or better this summer? This equates to a UCAS tariff of 200+ which may be an easier figure to compare with. Do you have that number? Thanks

@doctor_oxford @BorisJohnson This can't go on. The only way out is to go Scottish and use the CAGs. Every daft suggestion they make is inferior to CAGs. At least Sturgeon understood and acted with humanity and intelligence. Is this just pride and a refusal to be dictated to by what the Scots did?

@drdavidajames @RealGeoffBarton @tes @GavinWilliamson Surely a joke!? Oh no, it is all over the BBC. Wrong on so many levels and a microcosm of the chaos and in Gov't over the last 6 months. I remember reading somewhere that it is better to make a decision that is wrong, than do nothing. Maybe not in this case...
