🛫 The F-15’s Variable Inlet Ramps. This is seriously clever engineering. The whole intake assembly can nod up or down. It is pivoted at the bottom end, and actuated from above. The air data computer commands the movement based on angle of attack and Mach number. This helps keep good, undistorted airflow going into the engines even when the jet is pulling high AoA or maneuvering aggressively. It's not just for show. It does real work to protect engine performance across the flight envelope. 1/2
