Rep. Fletcher: The New World screwworm has been found in Texas. This flesh-eating parasite previously eradicated from the U.S. poses a huge threat to our cattle. Last March, the Trump administration fired more than 15,000 USDA employees and eliminated a program to contain the screwworm in Central America. The threat of New World screwworm is just one consequence of the Trump administration's reckless campaign to eliminate funding for government programs that Americans rely on.
I’m a lifelong Republican that will be voting all BLUE in the midterms. But if Democrats don’t step up & get their act together it, it won’t matter.
Kyle Kulinski: “Jake Tapper wrote a motherfucking book about Joe Biden and his cognitive decline and the massive cover-up. Well Jake, why don’t you get to work on your Trump book now because I guarantee you the cover-up that’s happening with him is way worse and way more severe and they’re covering more extreme stuff. His body is failing and his mind is failing on a regular basis”
The U.S. Supreme Court erased all doubts about the sweeping nature of its recent voting rights jurisprudence Tuesday night with a shadow docket ruling that effectively reverses the Court’s own decision in the same matter just three years ago. https://t.co/xebgKgDzyb
The federal court did not say Alabama drew the wrong lines. It said Alabama intentionally discriminated against Black voters, violated the 14th Amendment, and likely violated Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. The 2025 ruling called the Section 2 claim "not a close call."
Alabama lost. Drew a new map. Lost again. Now it has asked the Supreme Court to block the federal court ruling entirely - which would eliminate the second majority-Black congressional district and remove Rep. Shomari Figures from a seat he won under the court-ordered map.
This is the pattern Hardy is describing and it is worth stating plainly. Alabama was told its map was an intentional racial gerrymander. It drew another one. It was told that map also violated federal law. It appealed to the highest court in the land asking to use the illegal map anyway.
The question before the Supreme Court is not really about district lines. It is about whether a state can be found in intentional violation of the 14th Amendment, lose in court repeatedly, and still prevail through sheer institutional defiance while the legal process runs out the clock on another election cycle.
Selma is not a metaphor. It is a geographic fact. The Edmund Pettus Bridge is still there. The people who marched across it in 1965 were beaten because they wanted the right to vote. The fight Anneshia Hardy is describing in 2026 is not distant from that history. It is continuous with it. Same state. Same question. Different mechanism.
@DemocraticWins The losses keep piling up. Add the slew of court rulings against him and how judges are clearly fed up w DOJ stunts and selective prosecution. It gives me hope that all is not lost…yet.
@Acyn Republicans must have a literacy problem. The colonies did not require any religious belief. They lie, contort history, and millions of Americans lap it up like starving dogs.
@Acyn Actually a quick review on CHATGPT and other reliable search engines show that zero colonies had a constitution that required citizens to be Bible believers Christians.
Another lie by MAGA for the cult.
@Acyn It might help if you could name a single achievement. Where’s that health plan we were promised in “2 weeks”, 6 months ago. It’s not $2 a gal gas prices, or affordable food prices, or no foreign wars. It can’t be fiscal responsibility or his illegal tariffs. I only see chaos.
@marceelias I know I speak for countless others who greatly appreciate all you’re doing to protect our democracy from this corrupt administration. I hope you’re flooded w donations. Keep up the good work.
@OccupyDemocrats This doesn’t mean Trump and Blanche won’t to have to justify how they came up with this so-called settlement to the judge who thinks the court has been defrauded. They’re going to have to explain themselves. And I don’t think it will be pretty. I hope the hearing is televised.
FARA was passed in 1938 to catch actual Nazi agents. Literal spies. People operating under the direction of a foreign government to subvert American democracy.
Tim Miller shared a paraphrase of a public news report. That is what the White House called foreign agentry.
The administration didn't say what was false about the report. Didn't dispute the substance. Just threatened legal consequences for a journalist who noted that Trump's Iran war may have ended on worse terms than it started.
That's the tell. W.E.B. Du Bois got hit with FARA in 1951 for republishing a peace petition. A judge threw it out because there was no evidence. The government knew that going in. The prosecution was the point. The fear was the point.
This is the same play. You don't need a conviction. You need a journalist calculating whether the story is worth the lawyer bills, the public smear, the official government account calling you an agent of a foreign enemy during wartime. Some of them will decide it isn't. That's the whole game.
@Acyn Every time I look at Trump, or listen to him speak, or read one of his rants on truth social, I NEVER think, “Now there’s an example of moral Christian values”. I see no kindness, no humility, no call to the service of others. I hear lies. I see corruption. How about you, Tommy?
🚨 THIS IS WILD.
Rep. Menendez says he waited 15 HOURS outside an ICE facility trying to check on a detainee leading protests over conditions inside.
He says he told officials:
I’m not leaving until I know he’s okay.
Then after waiting overnight…
he finally gets inside.
And the first thing they tell him?
The man he came to see was gone.
Moved at 2 AM.
Read that again.
A member of Congress shows up for an oversight visit…
waits all night…
and the detainee he specifically came to check on gets transferred before he can see him.
Menendez says that detainee was helping organize a hunger strike because people inside wanted their stories heard.
Whatever your politics are…
when oversight shows up, the answer should be transparency.
Not a disappearing act at 2 in the morning.
