Agree. He did good and he did questionable things. But I can't blame the GM for 3 years of missing the playoffs when they controlled their own destiny as players and teammates. The players are to blame for this year's collapse. They showed they could play and play good hockey. Then they just laid down. He got defensive help. We will never know what else he tried to get at this year's deadline. I think the players need to grow up and look in the mirror. I think the trade request along with the salary demands before earning it left a bad taste in his mouth and he knew he couldn't do it anymore. He is too old school. These kids wanting to create super teams like the NBA is something Yzerman wants no part of. Quite frankly it's a turn off for me as well.

Walman was not the issue. Confusing yes. Reason it went off the rails no. It helps to get the number and 2 and 1 picks and the draft works for you unlike when Detroit deserved the number one overall. But it's still all who is in the draft and when you draft.
