If you want to argue that they are organisms you have to classify them as a different specie which is just getting more and more absurd.

Biology simply does not classify sperm or ovum as organism. We may argue as much as we won't but in the end it means nothing. This is simply the classification they chose and you have to live with it.

There are rare cases of pregnancy that are lethal to mothers but even when abortion was strictly criminalized in those cases it was always legal to save mothers life.
