It's totally fine to be sad for someone we don't personally know.

I’ve got just a couple of hours to wait until a radical prostatectomy that will remove my prostate, seminal vesicles, lymph nodes… and hopefully all of the cancer lurking therein and thereabouts.

Diagnosed at 51 following a routine blood test that showed a high PSA level, indicative of cancer.

What faces me now is quite extreme, but it’s life-changing in order not to be life-ending.

Guys: knowledge is power. Get the test when it’s offered. In the UK, 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer, with rates higher than that in the black community.
